1. Who we are and what this covers
CareerVersion is a product of Pixel96 LLC, a Tennessee limited liability company (“Pixel96”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you use careerversion.com, app.careerversion.com and careerversion.bio, how we use it, who helps us run the product, and the choices you have. It is written to match how the product actually works; when the product changes, this page changes with it.
2. What we collect
- Your sign-in email. There is no password. A one-time link is sent to the address you give, and that address is your account.
- The record you enter. Roles, projects, results, skills, credentials, pay, goals, what you want next, the private notes behind each role, and the files you upload, such as a résumé, a portrait or a case-study cover. You enter these; we do not gather them about you from anywhere else.
- Imports you choose. A LinkedIn file or a résumé you upload is read to draft rows into your record. Every imported row stays private and unconfirmed until you confirm it.
- How you found us. If you arrive from a campaign link, the campaign it names is stored with your account, so we know which outreach works.
- Usage. Page views and performance measurements from Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights, which are aggregate and use no advertising identifiers. For each published career page we also keep a daily count of how many times it was opened — a number, with nothing about who opened it; it is yours, exported with your record and deleted with your account. On the marketing site and public bios we also use Google Analytics, described under Cookies.
- Billing. If you start a paid plan, your card and billing details go directly to Stripe. We never see or store a card number; we keep the identifiers Stripe gives us and the state of your subscription.
- Operational records. When an AI request was made and what it cost, and when a refresh ran, kept for accounting and reliability.
3. How we use it
To run CareerVersion for you: keep your record, score opportunities against it, draft text you ask for and approve, publish the bio you choose to publish, send your sign-in and account emails, and bill the plan you chose.
To learn and improve. We study how the product is used so we can make it better. We also combine members’ records into de-identified, aggregated statistics — for example, how pay changes as people move between roles. These statistics never identify you: we remove names and contact details, we report only groups large enough that no one can be singled out, and we never try to re-identify anyone. We may publish such statistics or share them with others, and anyone we share them with must agree not to try either.
What we don’t do. We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your record to advertise to you or to anyone else, and no employer sees your private information unless you choose to share it.
4. Who helps us run it
These services process data on our behalf, only to provide their part of the product:
- Supabase hosts the database, sign-in and file storage.
- Vercel hosts the site and the application and provides the aggregate analytics named above.
- Stripe handles payments and subscriptions.
- Resend delivers sign-in links and account emails.
- Anthropic provides the AI that drafts and analyses text when you ask — reading a résumé you import, suggesting rows, drafting a takeaway or a tailored résumé, and reading a job posting. It receives only the parts of your record needed for that request. When you ask for a role’s takeaway, that includes the private notes for that role, except “why I left”, which is never sent. Our AI provider does not use this data to train its models.
- Google Analytics measures visits on the marketing site and public bios, never inside the app.
- Cloudflare Turnstile when switched on, checks that a sign-in comes from a person, not a bot.
- Search engines are told your bio’s address when you publish it, so it can be found by name.
Job boards, public company filings and company reference sources are read to build the market picture. Nothing about you is sent to them.
5. What is public
Only what you set public on your bio at careerversion.bio, and only once you publish it. Every row on your bio is one you confirmed and set public yourself. Pay and the private notes behind each role have no public setting at all; the database refuses to publish them. If you turn on Contact, visitors see the contact email you chose and can write to you. Your public bio can be read by anyone with the address and may be indexed by search engines.
6. If CareerVersion changes hands
If Pixel96 or CareerVersion is ever merged, acquired, or sold, your account and record may transfer to the new owner as part of that business. We would not sell your data on its own. A new owner must keep the promises in this policy for the data it receives, or tell you first and give you the chance to export your record and close your account before anything changes.
7. Cookies and storage
- Inside the app. A sign-in cookie keeps you signed in, a theme cookie remembers your theme if you pick one, a short-lived cookie allows one export download a day, and another remembers that you have seen a notice like a policy update. There are no advertising cookies.
- On the marketing site and public bios. Google Analytics sets cookies to count visits and which links are used (never the text you type). No ads are shown and we do not use it to build advertising profiles. You can block these cookies in your browser or with Google’s opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
8. Keeping, exporting and deleting
Your record is kept for as long as your account exists. You can export everything as one file from Settings at any time, and you can close your account from Settings. Closing cancels any subscription at once, deletes every row and file that is yours, releases your public address, and deletes your customer record at our payment processor, which keeps the invoices it issued as its own accounting record. What remains is detached operational records — that an AI request was once paid for, when a refresh ran, that a billing event arrived, that an account was closed on a date — none of which names you, and de-identified statistics already made, which can’t be traced back to you.
9. Security
Everything is private by default and enforced in the database with row-level security, so one account cannot read another. For support, one Pixel96 administrator, behind a second factor, can see account facts — your email address, when you joined and signed in, your plan, and how many entries each part of your record holds — and every such view is logged. Nobody at Pixel96 sees what you wrote, your pay or your notes. Sign-in uses one-time links rather than passwords. No system is perfectly secure; if you believe your account was accessed without your permission, tell us at the address below.
10. Children
CareerVersion is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account.
11. Your choices and rights
You can see, change, export and delete everything in your record from within the product. You can also write to us to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and we will answer within 30 days.
California residents: we do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and you can use the rights above without being treated differently.
Visitors from the EU and UK: we use your data to provide the service you asked for, for our legitimate interest in running and improving it, and with your consent where the law requires it. You can complain to your local data protection authority.
12. Changes
When this policy changes, the effective date at the top changes, and for anything material the product tells you when you next sign in.
