What CareerVersion collects, what it does with it, who processes it, and what you can do about it. Written from how the product actually works.

Effective 7 September 2026 · CareerVersion is operated by its founder in Tennessee, United States. An entity name will replace this line when one is formed.

1. What this covers

This policy describes what CareerVersion collects when you use careerversion.com, app.careerversion.com and careerversion.bio, what it does with it, who processes it, and what you can do about it. It is written to match how the product actually works; where the product changes, this page changes with it.

2. What we collect

  • Your sign-in email. There is no password. A magic link is sent to the address you give, and that address is the account.
  • The record you enter. Roles, projects, outcomes, skills, credentials, compensation, goals, the private notes behind each role, and the files you upload, such as a résumé, a portrait or a case-study cover. You enter these; we do not gather them about you from anywhere else.
  • Imports you choose. A LinkedIn archive or a résumé you upload is read once to draft rows into your record. Every imported row lands private and unconfirmed until you confirm it.
  • Usage. Page views and performance measurements from Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights on every page, including public bios. These are aggregate and do not use advertising identifiers.
  • Billing. If you start a paid plan, your card and billing details go directly to Stripe. We never see or store a card number; we store the identifiers Stripe gives us and the state of your subscription.
  • Operational records. When a model call was made and what it cost, and when a refresh ran. These are kept for accounting and reliability.

3. How we use it

To run the product: keep your record, score opportunities against it, draft text you approve, publish the bio you choose to publish, and bill the plan you chose. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use your record to advertise to you or to anyone else.

4. Who processes it

The product runs on services that handle data on our behalf:

  • Supabase hosts the database, sign-in and file storage.
  • Vercel hosts the site and the application and provides the analytics named above.
  • Stripe handles payments and subscriptions.
  • Anthropic receives the parts of your own record needed to draft a takeaway or a tailored résumé for you, when you ask for one. Private notes behind a role are never sent to a model.

Job boards, public company filings and company reference sources are read by the product to build the market picture. Nothing about you is sent to them.

5. What is public

Only what you set public on your bio at careerversion.bio, and only once you publish it. Every row on the bio is one you confirmed and set public yourself. Compensation and the private notes behind each role have no public state at all; the database refuses to publish them. An unverified inference cannot be published. Your public bio is readable by anyone with the address and may be indexed by search engines.

6. Cookies and storage

The application sets a session cookie on app.careerversion.com so you stay signed in, and a theme-preference cookie if you choose a theme. The marketing site stores a theme choice in your browser only. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, which is why there is no cookie banner.

7. Keeping, exporting and deleting

Your record is kept for as long as your account exists. You can export everything as one file from Settings at any time. You can delete your account from Settings; deletion removes every row and file that is yours at once and cancels any subscription. The only records that remain are detached operational ledgers that a model call was once paid for and when a refresh ran; neither names you.

8. Security

Everything is private by default and enforced at the database with row-level security, so one account cannot read another. Sign-in uses one-time links rather than passwords. No system is perfectly secure; if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission, tell us at the address below.

9. Children

CareerVersion is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account.

10. Your choices and rights

You can see, change, export and delete everything in your record from within the product. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights over your personal data; to exercise any of them, write to the address below and we will respond within a reasonable time.

11. Changes

When this policy changes, the effective date at the top changes and, for anything material, the product tells you when you next sign in.

12. Contact

These are general terms written from how the product works. They are not legal advice; have a lawyer review them before relying on them commercially.
