CareerVersion

Why · the story

You are not a résumé. You are a story with versions.

The thesis behind CareerVersion, and the rules it is built on.

A résumé is one version of you, flattened for one reader. LinkedIn is a feed. CareerVersion is the record: every role with its private story, every version with what it carried into the next, every claim connected to its proof.

The market for a senior role is small. A few hundred openings, a handful of genuine matches a week, and often none. Ranking a list of three is theatre. So the product builds a complete and honest account of what the market is asking for, and a defensible reason for every role that was ruled out.

Backed by evidence

Two findings the product is built on.

Both from university research. Cited by author, institution and year, with a link to the paper. Nothing here is a survey from a vendor.

01 · Polish stopped being proof

When an AI writing tool arrived on a large hiring platform, the link between a tailored cover letter and a callback fell by about half. Employers turned to prior work histories instead.

Five million cover letters across more than 100,000 jobs. The finding is the reason every claim on a CareerVersion is connected to its proof: when anyone can generate a tailored claim, the record behind it is what carries the signal.

02 · A career is a story you have to keep whole

People forced to change careers recovered by building a valid narrative of what they lost while establishing a new work identity. Their emotions were signals of that work, and drivers of it.

A longitudinal study of involuntary career change, interviewing the same people a year apart. It is why the record keeps every version, including the ones that ended, and why six private prompts sit under every role. Nobody reads them but you.

Trust

Honest by construction.

Not policies. Constraints in the database and the code, so the product cannot do these things even if asked.

  1. 01

Private by default and enforced at the database, not by a setting.

  2. 02

An unverified inference cannot be published at all. The schema refuses it.

  3. 03

    Compensation has no publishable state.

  4. 04

A model can draft. Only the person can save.

  5. 05

No invented percentile, no success probability, no projected salary.

Some of it is yours to keep. Some of it is yours to show.
